Sports in Nottingham are dominated by football and cricket respectively. The city has two main football teams and these are the famous Nottingham Forest Football Club and also the Notts County FC. Nottingham Forest plays their home games in the City Ground. This has long been a traditional ground and is close to its nearest rival and on the River Trent. It has a capacity of just over 30,000 and the ground opened in 1898.
The less successful Notts County play their football in Meadow Lane. The ground has a capacity of just over 18,000 and opened in 1910. They used to play their games in the Trent Bridge Cricket before Meadow Lane opened. Both teams regularly host football matches and tickets can be purchased from their websites.
The Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club plays its home games at Trent Bridge Cricket Ground. The club is considered one of the best in England and Trent Bridge Cricket Ground provides a tranquil setting alongside the River Trent. Regular test and one day international matches are hosted by this pleasant 17,000 seater stadium.
