Sports in Nottingham are dominated by football and cricket respectively. The city has two main football teams and these are the famous Nottingham Forest Football Club and also the Notts County FC. It has a capacity of just over 30,000 and the ground opened in 1898.

The club is considered one of the best in England and Trent Bridge Cricket Ground provides a tranquil setting alongside the River Trent. Regular test and one day international matches are hosted by this pleasant 17,000 seater stadium.

Other sports events include ice hockey under Nottingham Panthers and Rugby Union under Nottingham RFC.
